چکیده

duce the spread of Gram-negative bacteria.1 Meta-analyses have found that many nonpharmacologic interventions can significantly reduce the rate of ventilator-associated pneumonia; these include kinetic bed therapy, subglottic secretion drainage, heatand-moisture exchangers (rather than heated humidifiers), and oral decontamination with chlorhexidine.6 Environmental controls can prevent a large percentage of hospital-acquired bacterial infections. Fewer nosocomial infections will reduce overall antibiotic use, which should reduce the risk of creating bacterial antibiotic resistance and improve the efficacy of antibiotics given to patients who do acquire infections. Much more research is needed on the prevention and antibiotic treatment of Gram-negative infections.

Tobacco responds to salt stress by increased activity of antioxidant enzymes . Ali Asghar Hatamnia1,*, Nasser Abbaspour1, Reza Darvishzadeh2, Fatemeh Rahmani1, Reza Heidari 1 1

In order to understand the response of tobacco to salt stress, antioxidant enzyme activities, plant biomass and ion content were analyzed in two oriental tobacco genotypes (Basma 31 and SPT 406). Tobacco plants were exposed to 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mM NaCl for 12 days. The fresh and dry weight as well as shoot and root length of Basma 31 were greater than those of SPT 406 under increasing sal...

COMPARISON OF PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL RESPONDS BETWEEN TWO VARIETIES OF Glycyrrhiza glabra TO MOLYBDENUM AND SALICYLIC ACID

To investigate responses of Glycyrrhiza glabra var. glabra and G. glabra var. glandulifera to molybdenum and salicylic acid, we measured four stress biochemical parameters: anthocyanin, nitric acid, glycyrrhizic acid and peroxidase activity in callus tissues. Callus tissues obtained from seedlings root cultures were treated by 60 mg. l-1 molybdenum and 5 µM salicylic acid alone or together for...
